Infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) has been widely reported as one of the major viral diseases in shrimp culture industry.  This single strand, and negative sense DNA virus can cause mass mortality to P. stylirostris and also causes runt deformity syndrome (RDS) to L. vannamei.  The recent research results pointed that there is a close correlation between IHHNV and the shrimp muscle whitening.  Both HPV and IHHNV have been reported that they could affect the growth of P. monodon, the recent research results also point out that IHHNV will influence the survival rate of monodon broodstocks.  Thus, the economic loss caused by this virus has been underestimated for a long time. 

IHHNV is known that it could be transmitted both vertically and horizontally.  Although it has been reported widely and globally, the sequence variation of IHHNV between different geographic regions should not be neglected.  A practical IHHNV diagnostic tool which can detect all the known strains will be very helpful in reducing the loss and evaluating the risk to shrimp farmers.  The IQ2000^TM IHHNV Detection System is able to detect the known IHHNV in Asia and America and it will be your best and reliable partner again to fight against this problem.
