Introduction:

 

Viral nervous necrosis disease (VNN) has been reported in marine fishes such as parrot fish, groupers, flounders, sea bass, turbot, and striped jack since 1990. This disease caused high mortalities in the affected animals that were characterized by vacuolation in the retinal and brain tissue. Now, the causative agents of VNN were identified as a member of the family Nodaviridae. Even the nucleic acid sequences between fish nodaviruses are distinguishable, but they are closely related to each other in the coat protein region. IQ2000TM VNN Detection and Prevention System is designed by this conserved region and it can detect the nervous necrosis viruses on striped jack (SJNNV), redspotted grouper (RGNNV), barfin flounder (BFNNV), Japanese flounder (JFNNV), and tiger puffer (TPNNV), and most kinds of the groupers in Taiwan.

Specifications:

 

  1. Packing size: 200 reactions.

  2. Detection Limit: 10 copies/reaction.

  3. Quantitative capability: 3 different levels of infection can be differentiated.

  4. Sample throughput: for 40 samples, from sample preparation to final results require 4.5 to 5 hours.

  5. Built-in internal control system: eliminate false negative results from failed extraction or reaction.

  6. Quantified positive standard: monitor the sensitivity of detection.

  7. Adaptable to the Uni-IQ RT-PCR profile, suitable for multi-viral diagnosis.

Lane 5: Sample with severe VNN infection

Lane 6: Sample with light VNN infection

Applications:

 

  • Suitable for fresh, frozen and ethanol preserved fish tissue samples, e.g. larvae, brain and eye.
